The
Imo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Chris Ezike, has said that the kidnappers of
ace gospel singer, Prince Chinedu Nwadike, collected N4 million before he
regained freedom.
The
popular gospel singer was abducted on July 10, 2017, at World Bank Road, near
Great Gospel Liberation International Church in Owerri, Imo State.
Parading
the suspects, the State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, disclosed that the
kidnap victim’s Honda CRV SUV with Registration Number ABN 492 TS, which the
gunmen stole, was recovered by the police in Calabar, Cross River State.
The
CP gave the names of the suspects as Chibuike Owen, 26, from Umuogele in the
Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia state, Obinna Onye, 36, of Ikeduru
LGA of Imo state, Chiagoziem Okoye, 36, of Anambra state, Chukwuemeka Daniel,
28, of Mbaitoli LGA of IMO state and Anyanwu Odinakachi, 40, a native of
Umuahia in Abia state.
“The
suspects collected a ransom of N4 million before they allowed their target to
regain his freedom. His SUV was also stolen. We are happy because through
committed effort, we have been able to arrest the suspects with the victim’s
vehicle recovered in Calabar,” he added.
Ezike
asserted that all the tactical units of the command had be energised and
fortified to go all out against criminals in the state.
The
state police commissioner stated that his command would not rest on its oars
until criminals were completely wiped out.
The
suspects confessed to the crime when interviewed by journalists.
