Eyebrows across the
world have been raised after a 29-year-old woman married a wealthy 92-year-old.
Young
bride Charity Mumba has rushed to pour water over suspicions, insisting her new
hubby Peter Grooves is the love of her life.
Despite her efforts, Charity has come under fire online after a photograph
from the pair's wedding in South Africa went viral.
The new Mrs Grooves,
originally from Zambia, moved to South Africa in search of a new life — which
she found with her husband Peter.
Mr Grooves has been
described as "very rich" by local media, thanks to his fortune in
stocks and shares.
The controversial
wedding comes following a reported trend of young Zambian women moving to South
Africa in search of wealthy, elderly partners.
Commenting on the
wedding snap online, netizen 'Mtokolo Limpo' said: "Zambian women are a
disgrace, you come all the way to dine with an old man, what special attention
are you going to give him apart from sucking up his money."
'Longlu Vlami' shared
their opinion on the matter: "It is sad that women nowadays don’t know how
to work hard but just find a life with a finished old man, very soon he is
dying and she will inherit his riches."
And 'Mercy Nhlovu'
added: "That girl must be taken back to Zambia. Rubbish!"
While the majority of users commenting on the photo were
against the match, some thought the couple would make it.
'Tulani Zulu'
commented: "Nice couple, I see nothing wrong if they love each
other."
Zambia is one of
southern Africa's poorest countries, with 68 per cent of the population living
below the poverty line. Compared to Zambia,
South Africa is a rich country.
