The
Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu,
and the Permanent Secretary, Sonny Echono, met with the leaders of the Academic
Staff Union of Universities on Tuesday in Abuja, and reviewed further the
Memorandum of Action signed in September 2017.
Punch
correspondent learnt that ASUU’s strike however continues as the union leaders
have to go back to consult with its National Executive Council members before
reaching any final decision.
The
Union began their strike action on November 5th to demand better funding for
universities and alleged plans by the Federal government to increase student
fees.
Speaking
to newsmen after the meeting, ASUU president Biodun Ogunyemi, said
''We
have been meeting but we are yet to reach any concrete decision''.
