President Muhammadu
Buhari has expressed his disappointment with the postponement of elections and
has decided to return to Abuja from his home town, Daura, where he had gone to
vote.
He said he made
everything available to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
in order to ensure smooth elections.
“INEC themselves have
given assurances, day after day and almost hour after hour that they are in
complete readiness for the elections. We and all our citizens believed them,”
he said in a statement released on Saturday morning and shared with TheCable.
He called on Nigeria
to refrain from “all civil disorder and remain peaceful, patriotic and
united to ensure that no force or conspiracy derail our democratic
development”.
