The management of Auchi
Polytechnic has sacked 17 and downgrades 10 staff members for allegedly
collecting money and other gratifications from students for marks and grades.
The rector of the institution, Dr Sanusi Jimah, disclosed this yesterday during
the 25th convocation ceremony of the institution.
“The
polytechnic has raised the standard of discipline in the last two years. I can
report that this nexus for money-for-marks, gratification for grades and
other unethical practices has been largely curbed.
“The polytechnic achieve this by visiting sanctions on 27
staff who thought that this was a way of life. Of the number, 11 staff were
dismissed, six had their appointment terminated; while 10 others were
downgraded”, he said.
