President Goodluck Jonathan has said the services of Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State will be required at the national level when he steps down as governor in March.
This has been revealed by the Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, who represented the President at a schools facilities distribution in Awka on January 30, 2014, Thursday.
The occasion was the distribution of 25,000 computers, 100 buses and 450 50KVA generators to schools in Anambra State.“We will need his services at the national level,” Wike declared.
Gov. Obi mentioned that the distribution of the computers and generators was part of the state government’s efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.
“We are offering a total package to our schools. The generators will power the computers. We have trained special computer teachers for proficiency in the subject.“We have also provided boreholes, Internet facilities, Microsoft Academics, Laboratory equipment to schools in the State. The results of the effort have started to manifest in the performance of our people in external examinations,” Gov. Obi said.
The Minister and the Governor further moved to Uga, where they laid the foundation of an all-boys vocational school to help check male dropout in schools in the state.
