Court Refuses Sanusi’s Application To Be Reinstated As CBN Governor

After earlier issuing a restraining order on the Attorney-General of the Federation, Inspector-General of Police and State Security Service, their privies or any other law enforcement agencies of the Federal Government “from infringing on the rights” of the suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Federal High Court‎ in Abuja Wednesday refused an application by the suspended governor to be reinstated as the apex bank governor.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole refused the ex parte motion brought before it by Sanusi on the ground that it would be unfair to grant such an application without affording the respondents a hearing.
Sanusi had filed the application on 24th of February 2014 asking the court to make an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants from obstructing, disturbing, stopping or preventing him in any manner whatsoever, from performing the functions as the governor of the CBN and enjoying in full, the statutory powers and privileges attached to the office.
