The death of a
housewife in Atumaga community in Delta State, has thrown her household into
great confusion after it was discovered that she died after eating from the
soup she had poisoned for her cheating husband.
According to Leadership
Newspaper, the woman identified as Egwoli, was frustrated that her husband was
busy sleeping with other women and neglecting her for over a year, decided to
consult a native doctor who prepared the love charm for
her with strict instructions to add the substance to her husband's food to gain
back his affection.
But after preparing the
egusi (melon) soup but unfortunately, her errant husband was nowhere to be
found.
Not knowing the charm had
deadly effects, she ate from the soup and went to bed and was found dead the
following morning.
The husband who had
earlier complained that he stopped making love to his wife because of the
offensive body odour that oozes out of her body, narrated the circumstances
that led to the tragic end:
"My
wife had threatened to make me impotent when I stopped making love to her for
obvious reasons and I found some fetish items in her room, including the egusi
soup she ate before her death."
The Delta State Police
Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, has confirmed the
incidence and said that the police was investigating the circumstances that led
