A 44-year-old native doctor, simply identified
as Owe, has been allegedly stabbed to death in Benin City.
The
victim was said to have been stabbed in the chest by a lady during a domestic
brawl in his residence, opposite Use Market Road Junction, Upper Siluko Road,
Benin City last weekend.
The
lady (names withheld) was said to be a friend of the victim’s second wife
and a guest in that house. She is now helping the Police in their
investigations.
The
Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command, DSP Stephen Onwochei, who
confirmed the story, said the police had commenced full scale investigation
into the case.
Onwochei
disclosed that the attacker turned herself in to the police after the dastardly
act.
The shrine of the
deceased native doctor suffered desertion when Vanguard visited last weekend.
It
was gathered that trouble started on the faithful Friday when the deceased did
not meet his second wife at home after he returned from his third wife’s
residence where he spent the night.
She
was said to have gone to Lagos Street for shopping.
Sources
hinted that the intervention of other persons who were in the apartment as the
violence raged could not placate his anger, but got extended to his sister
in-law, instead.
Apparently
provoked by the deceased, the lady allegedly ran to the kitchen, picked a knife
with which she stabbed the native doctor, her friend’s husband, to death.
