The
Lagos State Government has filed fresh charges against suspected Kidnap
Kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans.
This
comes barely a week after the suspect was re-arraigned alongside five others on
an amended two counts of conspiracy and kidnap of one Dunu Donatus.
The
offence was said to have been committed in the Ilupeju area of
Lagos between February and April 2017.
But
Channels Televisions’ judiciary correspondent exclusively gathered that the
Lagos State government has filed new charges against the suspect.
One
of the charges has seven counts of conspiracy and the attempted kidnap of the
Chairman of “The Young Shall Grow Motors”, Mr Vincent Amaechi Obianodo.
Of
the seven counts, two of the charges are for the murder of the policemen
attached to Mr Obianodo while in another four counts, Evans was alleged to have
conspired with some others to kidnap one Sylvanus Hafia.
It
was also gathered that both charges are pending before Justice Oloruntoyin
Taiwo of the Lagos High Court before whom the suspect would be arraigned
on Monday, October 23.
Evans
had also on Thursday changed his plea to ‘not guilty’, having pleaded
guilty when he appeared before Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the High Court in Lagos
on August 30.
