An 11-year-old girl is
being hailed as a hero after shooting a man who was attacking her mother.
Leo Henry, 25, broke
into his ex-girlfriend Brandy Moreno’s Oklahoma City home early Tuesday morning
and stabbed her with a knife, authorities said.
Moreno’s daughter, Jayda
Milsap, used a handgun to shoot Henry twice to rescue her mother, according to
local media.
Neighbor Carolyn Marsee
says she heard the gunshots ring out.
“I think she’s a hero,”
Marsee told The Oklahoman. “(Moreno) just showed the girl how to use the gun
last week so she could protect herself.”
Henry tried to flee, but
police were called to the home about 4 a.m. and found him just down the street,
the Oklahoma paper reported.
Both adults were taken
to OU Medical Center in serious condition, according to a spokeswoman for
Emergency Medical Services Authority.
Marsee told KFOR that
Moreno sustained stab wounds to the eye, neck and chest.
On Sept 18, Moreno
reportedly filed a request for a protective order from Henry in Cleveland
County District Court.
She accused him of
molesting her children in the middle of the night for several years, according
to the report.
Henry’s sister Emma
Spence told the NBC affiliate that her brother might be guilty, though she
hates to admit it.
