Man jailed for life for rape in Osun

A middle aged man, Obafemi Kolawole, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Ilesa High Court for rape.

Kolawole was found guilty for unlawfully raping a lady (names withheld) without her consent.
Delivering his judgment on Wednesday at Ilesa, Justice A. Abdulkareem sentenced Kolawole on one count charge preferred against him.
He explained that the offence was contrary to section 358 of the criminal Code Cap 34 vol. II, Laws of State of Osun.
The prosecutor, Mrs. Rachel Ojimi had told the court that the offence occurred on September 15, 2007 at about 7:30pm.
Kolawole was said to have approached the victim when she came to his house to visit his neighbour. The convict called her and she refused him and took to her heel.
He was said to have pursued and beat her up.  It was in the process of beating her that he tore her dress, having overpowered her.
The convict also tore her pants and had carnal knowledge of her.
He was said to have removed the hair of her private part and put it in her mouth to drink with dry gin. The convict also inserted an opener into her private part.
