A man
forced to choose between saving his wife or mother when deadly floods hit his
village in China opted for the latter.
An estimated 130 people
have died and another 110 are missing as a result of flooding caused by freak
storms in the country’s Hebei Province.
Gao
Fengshou, who lives in Daxian in Xingtai City was woken up by his wife
to learn that flood waters were rising and that they, their two kids and
his father were in danger.
But
according to reports, the 39-year-old decided to leave his family to fortune
and go to save his mum across the village, whose house was waist deep in water.
Fortunately, he was able
to successfully save his mum but rising flood water meant he was unable to return
to his family.
After
waiting several hours for the water to recede, he returned home to find his
wife, Zhang, his two and four-year-old kids and dad huddled safely on the roof.
However, reports say his
wife of five years felt the rescue mission was a betrayal and left.
Zhang
reportedly returned to her parents’ home in East China’s Shandong Province,
where Gao has now gone to beg for her forgiveness.
