A magistrate court sitting in Owerri, presided over by S.K Durumba, Monday remanded 112 pro-Biafra women in Owerri prison. This is as the Imo state, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dazuki Galadanchi, confirmed that two of the women who slumped in the court, will be arraigned on Thursday, when they would have regained their health.

But it was also gathered that one of the women (a pregnant woman) who broke down in the court as a result of the alleged beaten earlier received during the peaceful protest was said to have bleeded profusely before she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital. 

The women were brought to court by SP Thaddeus Okay of the legal/prosecution department of the Owerri police headquarters. In some of the eight count charge No: Ow/430c/2018, alleged”That you conspired with others now at large to commit misdemeanor to wit conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 517 of the criminal code.

The magistrate, Durumba, adjoined unitill September 3, for legal advice by the attorney general of the state, adding that her court had no jurisdiction on the the matter.
