Former President
Olusegun Obasanjo has sued a radio broadcaster before an FCT High Court for
allegedly accusing him of killing former Attorney General of the Federation
(AGF), Bola Ige.
Akande
Oro, who is the anchor, for online radio, Awinkonko FM allegedly claimed in the
broadcast that Obasanjo killed Ige and former Vice Chairman South South of the
All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Harry Marshal during his tenure as president.
In
the suit by his lawyer, Kanu Agabi (SAN), Obasanjo described the allegations as
malicious and false, and demanded the award of N1 billion in damages by the
court and other reliefs.
Bola
Ige was shot dead in his bedroom in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State at about 9pm on
December 23, 2001.
President
Buhari had in June ordered the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris to
reopen investigation into the assassination of Ige, Harry Marshal and
