The corpse of a slain policeman,
Corporal Onu Adeyi, was on Sunday discovered in a well in Gboko Local
Government Area of Benue state.
We learnt that Adeyi was attached to Gboko (B)
Division before he was murdered by the assailants who are still at large.
The policeman, popularly referred
to as Baya Baya, was said to have been stabbed several times before being
thrown inside the well in his compound.
Locals in the Tomatar area of
Gboko where he was killed, said that they were still living in agony as the
incident had put them in fear.
One of them, who identified
herself as Ngunan, disclosed that they all woke up on Sunday to discover that
Baya Baya was killed on Saturday night and dumped inside the well in his
compound.
Confirming the report, the
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hyacinth Dagala, said over the telephone that the
command was investigating the circumstances that led to the policeman’s death.
Dagala, however, said that his
men had yet to make any arrest in the case just as he appealed for calm and
vigilance.
