A female death-row inmate in the state of Georgia, USA, Kelly Gissendaner, has sued the state after postponing her execution twice, thereby causing extreme torture.
Gissendaner's initial
execution date was fixed for February 25, 2015, but the state called off the execution presumably because of bad weather in the area.
Then, on March 2,
Gissendaner prepared to die again but after hours of waiting with little word,
her execution was again called off because the execution drugs were deemed too
cloudy for use.
Unable to take the trauma
any longer, Gissendaner and her attorneys are suing the state because her
execution was botched and for hours she was left living in fear, which she sees
as a violation of her constitutional rights.
According to the lawsuit,
the condemned woman 'endured thirteen hours of anxiety and fear as to when and
how defendants might try to execute her while they fidgeted as to whether they
could manage it before her warrant period expired.'
They also said the state
did not provide much information about the drug and what went wrong.
The state has not set a
new date for Gissendaner who was accused of conspiring to kill her ex-husband.
