Police to restrict movement during election

As part of measures to ensure adequate security during the presidential election on Saturday, the Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has ordered a restriction on vehicular movements between 8am and 5pm.

The IG also said vehicular traffic would be restricted on April 11, 2015 within the same period, during the governorship and senatorial elections, according to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu.
The statement said, “This total restriction of movements order applies to all, except for Ambulances, Fire service trucks and others on essential duties.
“Consequently, travellers and citizens who intend to use roads on these days and hours are advised to plan alternative times for their travelling.”
While expressing regrets over the inconveniences that road users and the general public may encounter as a result of the restriction, the IG appealed  for the understanding and cooperation of the entire citizenry, “as the restriction is done in the nation’s interest.”
