Fraudsters open five Facebook accounts in Braide’s name

Some suspected fraudsters have opened five different Facebook accounts for the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide.
It was gathered that the accounts displayed Braide’s picture in police uniform and had allegedly been used to dupe some people in the state.

A statement from the state command, however, said the PPRO did not operate any Facebook or Twitter account.
The statement read in part, “The attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to activities of fraudsters who opened and are currently operating about five different facebook accounts with the name, ‘Ngozi Braide’. They are also using and displaying her pictures in police uniform as a ploy to make their victims believe that they are dealing with the right person.
“The fraudsters have succeeded in duping innocent citizens of their money by luring them into believing that jobs could be offered to them by the PPRO.
“The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, does not operate any Facebook or twitter account.
“The Commissioner, Umaru Manko, has ordered detectives to fish out the culprits.”

  2. why didn't the Command investigate and possibly make an arrest before going public with this information? This to me is too hasty.

  3. This seem to be the order of the day as fraudsters seem to be making the Nigerian social media cyber space very unsafe with too many fraudulent accounts and impersonators on the prowl . The police should do something about this as fraudsters seem to be having a field day operating fake multiple accounts of celebrities and top government functionaries and defrauding unsuspecting public, aspiring young artistes and most unfortunately too many vulnerable young girls who are easily lured into the dens of these evil criminals. Who knows how many people that have been victims, robed, raped and perhaps even murdered for rituals. This must be checked and all such fake accounts exposed and shut down for public good.
