Seven persons, including a 54-year-old pastor, are now cooling their heels in police custody in Asaba over their alleged involvement in the theft of aluminum sheets worth over N50 million.
The goods, it was gathered, belonged to G.U.O Group of Company, Onitsha in Anambra State and were allegedly stolen at the former Asaba Textile Mill on Nnebisi Road, in the Delta State capital.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest yesterday, in Asaba, explained that on July 9, policemen received a report from the company that unknown persons had stolen the aluminum sheets valued at over N50 million.
Kalu said based on the information, detectives swung into action and arrested one Charles of Omirigboma camp, Asaba at the scene while his unknown accomplice escaped.
She stated that on July 16, information got to the police that the stolen sheets were discovered at Okwe, awaiting evacuation by buyers to Onitsha, adding that her men rushed to the scene and arrested the six suspects, including the pastor.
She alleged that the suspects had “confessed to the crime and mentioned their gang leader now at large,” adding that 600 sheets of aluminum were recovered, while efforts had been stepped up to track down the fleeing gang leader.
