A young girl took her own
life four years after her mother died because she couldn’t cope with her
loss.
Isabel
Ann Richardson, 12, had told a school nurse that she felt ‘worthless’
following her mother’s death from breast cancer.
She
was described at Norfolk Coroner’s Court as a ‘happy, funny girl’ but is
also said to have pined for her mother.
Her dad,
Stephen, told Norfolk Coroner’s Court that on May 12 he received a call
from Isabel’s brother to say she had been posting distressing images on
Instagram.
He
went home and found her unconscious in her bedroom. She died in hospital six
days later on May 18.
Recording a narrative
verdict, coroner Jacqueline Lake said it was not clear if Isabel intended to
take her life.
Mr
Richardson told the court: ‘I was aware of herself harm, but I never
thought for a second she would do anything like take her own life. I will
always think I could have done more.’
