I'm devastated by Audu's death - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he was devastated by the death of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Prince Abubakar Audu in the inconclusive Kogi State gubernatorial election.
President Buhari said he received the news of Audu's death with an enormous sense of shock. The president in a statement on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Mallam Garba Shehu said: "We are obviously devastated at the loss".

Shehu stated that the president, who is attending the Third Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Tehran, Iran said this in an immediate response to Audu's death.  He said President Buhari described the late Audu as a talented politician, a loving family head and respected community leader.

"He (Audu) was immensely courageous," the president was quoted to have said.
The presidential spokesman said Buhari condoled with Audu's family, the government and people of Kogi State as well as all "our party members, men and women who stood with Audu in his bid return as Governor. He ran as the favorite in the election as the early results have clearly shown."
