Two
children and their parents were killed in a murder-suicide on Sunday morning in
Louisiana.
The
family's 18-year-old daughter discovered the horror after returning home from a
hunting trip at about 11 a.m., the Jefferson Parish sheriff's office said in a
statement. She ran out of the home and called police for help immediately.
When
officers arrived, they found David Mata, 46, and his wife Kelli Mata, 40, dead
on the living room floor with stab wounds.
2-year-old
Liam Mata, his brother Caden Mata, 4, were also found dead with stab wounds on
Sunday, both in separate bedrooms in their Marrero home.
Officers
found a straight-blade knife underneath the father's body while investigating
the scene.
Police
said David Mata fatally stabbed his wife and their two sons, and then killed
himself, sometime before 11 a.m., NOLA reported.
The
husband was arrested in 2010 for a domestic disturbance involving his future
wife, Col. John Fortunato told the Daily News. He also had a prior charge for
cocaine possession in 2003, he said. The couple had been married since April
21, 2012, according to the wife's Facebook.
The
family had only lived in the Louisiana home for six months, and were fairly
quiet, neighbors said.
