Medical doctor returning from church, jumps into Lagos lagoon (Details)

The man's car was pulled over by his driver before he jumped into the lagoon
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency on Sunday searched for a medical doctor, who jumped into a lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge, in the Adekunle area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that the man, identified simply as Dr Allwell Orji, was in a Sport Utility Vehicle en route to Lagos Island at about 4pm on Sunday when he asked his driver to stop after he allegedly received a call.

He was said to have walked to the railings on the bridge and jumped into the lagoon.
The vehicle and the deceased’s driver were taken to the Adeniji Adele Police Division, while efforts were ongoing to find the doctor “dead or alive” as of 8pm on Sunday.

When contacted Sunday evening, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, said the vehicle and the driver have been taken to Adeniji Adele Police Station for further investigations.
Adesina Tiamiyu, LASEMA general manager, however, said that officials of the
agency had been deployed to the scene of the incident.
“Effort is ongoing to recover his body from the lagoon,” the LASEMA boss said.
