Five-month-old, Omobolaji Akinkunmi, has been diagnosed with a hole-in-the-heart and desperately needs to undergo surgery at Narayana Health Hospital in India.
According to her medical report by doctors at the Lagos State
University Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment, Omobolaji has
Truncus Arteriosis Type 1, a condition that can only be managed in India.
The report also states that she would need N3.8m for her
treatment, an amount impossible for her parents to raise.
Her mother, Ogooluwa told
Punch’s correspondent that she had to take time off her job as a
secretary to allow her take care of her ailing girl while her husband, an
engineer, now spends his entire salary on her hospital bills in LASUTH.
They are calling on well-meaning Nigerians to assist them in
raising the funds for the surgery.
“She is not growing at all, in fact she has lost all the baby
weight and she is just five months old. She does not breathe well and hardly
sleeps at night because of the pain. Am pleading with Nigerians to assist us
because we don’t have the money.
“We have been trying to raise the funds but it has been
impossible. We need help right now,” she said.
