A former governor of
Bayelsa State and self-styled Governor-General of Ijaw nation, Diepreye Solomon
Peter Alamieyeseigha, DSP, has declared that former President, Goodluck
Jonathan has no money, stressing that President Muhammadu Buhari will find
nothing if he is expecting to extract money from his predecessor.
The once political
godfather of Jonathan made this disclosure while interacting with Vanguard,
where he claimed that the former President is “a quiet and highly contented
Nigerian but not a rich man.”
Alamieyeseigha, while
faulting Balarabe Musa’s recent assertion that Jonathan was not prepared for
leadership, insisted that the Bayelsa-born statesman is more experienced than
any other president that has ruled this country in the past.
While wondering how
somebody who has been in office for 16 years can be said not to be qualified,
he explained that Jonathan was “in office as deputy governor and was overseeing
administration of local governments and was very conversant with the
administration of local governments at that level. He was also performing the
role of a deputy governor.
“He became a governor
and is also familiar with governance at that level. He became a vice president
and later acting president and a president. Which Nigerian has that pedigree?
None. So, Balarabe Musa goofed. I am not aware of any special school that
people go to become president.
“Academically, he is
more qualified than any of them, and in our local environment at the University
of Port Harcourt, he has street knowledge because he is locally bred.”
Admitting that not
everybody will like his style, the former Governor maintained that no other
president has done for Nigeria the much that Jonathan did for the country. He
maintained that the former President is, “unassuming but with very high
intellectual content.”
