Man Admits He Tried to Hire Hit Man to Kill Little Girl He Raped

An Ohio man pleaded guilty to rape and conspiracy charges on Monday after attempting to hire a hit man to kill a child he had raped and her father. 

Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Greg Flannagan tells People that 41-year-old John Friend, III, admitted he had made contact with a contract killer to have his victim – a girl under the age of 10 – and her father murdered. 

Friend, a resident of Dayton, will be sentenced Oct. 6. He is facing a possible life sentence on two counts each of conspiracy to commit murder, rape of a child under age 10, and gross sexual imposition. 

Friend was first indicted one year ago on sexual abuse charges. The murder conspiracy charges were brought by a grand jury back in March. 

Flannagan acknowledges Friend wanted the little girl and her father dead, thinking the case against him would be thrown out if they were killed.
