The presidential
candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari,
yesterday, assured Nigerians that Boko Haram insurgents will be chased out of
Nigeria if the party takes over the reins of power at the center.
General Buhari, who
addressed an overflowing crowd of APC faithful at the Dan Anyiam Stadium
in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during the party’s presidential rally, said
emphatically that the insurgency in some parts of the North East could not
be quelled by the Peoples Democratic Party -led government because the
government was corrupt and insincere.
His words: “ If you elect
me as the president of Nigeria on February 14, 2015, I am assuring you that our
government will chase Boko Haram out of Nigeria within two months because
it is the responsibility of any reasonable government to secure the lives and
property of its citizens.
“We are also going to
solve the nagging problem of youth employment through the provision of adequate
power, the creation of soft loan scheme to enable them start small scale
businesses and of course, we will also ensure that we upgrade health and
road infrastructures in order to improve the living standard of our people.”
He urged the people to
obtain their permanent voters cards to enable them vote for the APC.
