Ekene Uzoigwe,
a businessman based in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, may be contemplating committing
suicide over the manner he was jilted by his supposed fiancée on their wedding
day.
According to Daily
Independent, Uzoigwe was in love with one Miss Ifunanya Igwebuike,
student of the Federal Polytechnic in Oko, Anambra State.
The lady, who is a
final year Business Administration student of the Polytechnic, allegedly told
Uzoigwe that she could only accept his love advances if he could finance her
tertiary education expenses.
The businessman
reportedly agreed and sponsored the lady right from the Ordinary National
Diploma level to her final year at the Higher National Diploma level
However, in January
this year, Miss Igwebuike allegedly decided to change her mind on the proposed
wedding scheduled to hold at St Patrick Catholic Church, Umuchu, Agutata in
Ebonyi State.

Daily Independent further gathered that as early as 10.a.m, relatives of the businessman had gathered at the church auditorium, awaiting the arrival of the bride to be, her relatives and friends.
But, the entire church
was allegedly thrown into confusion when the lady sent a short message service
(sms) to Reverend Lawrence Maduagwu, the officiating priest for the wedding,
informing him that “I cannot marry a school dropout. We are not of same level”.
The priest was said to
have told the businessman the message he got and consequently called off the
wedding.
A family source said
that Uzoigwe spent about N250, 000 to organize the wedding, even as the parents
of the lady are allegedly insisting that they cannot force their daughter to
marry him as he was free to come for a refund of the money spent.
The jilted man was said
to have been dejected since the ugly development and allegedly told some of his
confidants that he might take his life by committing suicide.
