President
Goodluck Jonathan has attributed the inability of his government to rescue the
Chibok girls to interferences from external forces which are sabotaging the
federal government’s effort.
Jonathan, who made the
assertion while speaking to the Shehu of Borno, blamed the non-rescue of the
219 girls abducted from Chibok on April 14 to external forces (which he did not
define) and promised to do everything possible to end insurgency in the nearest
future.
Speaking on the menace
of insurgency in the state, the president noted that through initiatives like
the Victim Support Fund, Presidential Initiative for North-east and Safe School
Initiative, his administration would rebuild the areas affected by the
insurgency after the government ends it.
He also vowed that his
administration would rebuild and redesign Borno State in such a way that
children will have access to education and better future, while budgetary
allocation to the affected states will also be increased.
