The Elephants of Ivory
Coast on Sunday defeated the Super Eagles 1-0 in an international friendly
match at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
An 83rd minute goal
from substitute Salomon Kalou won the pulsating encounter for the Africa Cup of
Nations-bound Elephants. The Nigerian side was basically Eagles ‘B’ players
from the local league.
The match was the first
of the two international friendlies billed to take place in Dubai as the
Nigeria Football Federation seek to keep the Eagles busy following the
country’s failure to make the trip to Equatorial Guinea for the 2015 AFCON. The
Eagles will later take on Sudan at the same stadium on the 17th.
