A lady who was looking forward to a quiet weekend with her
boyfriend has ended up in police detention after the 29-year-old man reportedly died in her apartment at
the Irri Quaters in Ulli-Iyede community, Isoko North Local Government Area of
Delta State.
The young man, identified
as Harrison Ighoroje, a graduate of the Delta State University (DELSU), was
said to be a teacher at a private secondary school in another community and had
visited the lady to spend the night with her but ended up as a corpse.
The circumstances
surrounding his death which is said to have set his kinsmen against those of
the lady, could not be ascertained just yet but according to one of his close
friends, the lady had put an urgent call across to him in the night informing
him that Ighoroje had suddenly developed a sickness and was convulsing
seriously.
The friend said the lady
later raised an alarm after the deceased started convulsing around 3 am, which
attracted neighbours who rushed in to revive him, but to no avail.
When they discovered that he was already dead, the lady was advised to report the matter
to the police in the community
The friend said:
“I
was reluctant to go there after receiving the call because it came in the wee
hours of the day. Seeing that her lover had died, the girlfriend raced to the
Divisional Police Headquarters in Oleh to report herself.
She
was thereafter detained until autopsy would be conducted on Harrison’s body.”
Another close friend of
the deceased, however, claimed that Ighoroje was asthmatic.
