A scorned woman has been jailed for 32 months after setting fire to a hotel because she’d been dumped by her boyfriend at a ball.
Georgina Tranter confessed to burning a door and a carpet at the Premiere Inn Haverfordwest, following the Pembrokeshire Hunt Ball on January 18.
The
26-year-old, from Redstone Court, Narberth (southwest Wales) , was reportedly high on ‘cocaine’ and
alcohol when she returned to the hotel after initially being driven home by
police after being locked out of her room.
‘She took the keys to her
mother’s Peugeot car without her mother’s know-ledge, took a petrol canister
from a lawn mower and drove back to the Premier Inn, where she doused the fire
escape door with petrol and set it alight,’ said prosecutor Nicola Powell at
Swansea Crown Court.
She
now has to serve a term after endangering the lives of 133 guests who were
evacuated from the building.
Luckily
no-one was injured and the fire was successfully extinguished.
Tranter
was arrested after sending texts to her friend saying ‘I need you I’ve
done something stupid’ and ‘I’m on the run’.
She
admitted arson being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, taking a
vehicle without the owner’s consent and failing to give a specimen of breath to
police.
The
refinery laboratory technician has been remanded in custody for the past seven
months.
