Wife Drags Husband To Court for Hitting Her With Iron Rod On The Head

A 28-year-old housewife, Yemi Ogunkile, on Tuesday dragged her husband, Alaba Lawrence, 32, to an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly hitting her with iron rod on the head.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the eight-years-old marriage was blessed with three boys.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 27, at Textile area of Ado-Ekiti.

He said that the accused on the fateful date unlawfully hit his wife with an iron rod, causing a deep-cut on her head.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 355 of the Criminal Code,Cap C16 ,Laws of Ekiti State.2012.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two counts preferred against him.

The Counsel to the defendant, Mr Tunde Olayemi, prayed the court to grant bail to his client, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

He told the court that the wife had the boys for her husband, saying that their marriage, which is eight years ,could still be settled.

Chief Magistrate Ropo Adegboye granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to Aug. 12 for mention. (NAN)
